I know this post is about Spring handicrafts, but every time May approaches, I find myself singing… “It’s gonna be Maaay.” I can’t help it, but if you’re an N*SYNC fan like me, you totally know what I’m talking about!

Ok, let’s get to the Spring handicrafts and activities for this month. You’ll begin to notice a recipe here and there throughout the craft plans. I’ve found that adding in a recipe is a great way to get me in the kitchen with my kids – so I hope it does the same for you!

1. Nature Suncatcher Wind Chimes – Instructions
Shout out to Hands on While we Grow for this one! This one is not only fun, but it looks pretty too. This could also be prompted by a nature walk to get the things you need to make the wind chime – win win! Besides what you can find in your yard, there are only a few additional supplies you’ll need. Enjoy this one, mamas!
Materials needed:
- Contact paper
- Scissors
- Marker or pen
- Rings from Mason jar lids
- String
- A sturdy stick
2. Rainbow Popsicles – Recipe
As soon as the weather warms up (and I mean like the first day it gets above 70 degrees), my kids are begging for popsicles. And I get it – who doesn’t want a popsicle on a warm day? These rainbow popsicles by The First Year Blog look amazing! And if I can incorporate some fresh fruit into their popsicles – I am all for it. Hope your kiddos (and you, of course) love these!
Side note: if the rainbow part of this seems like too much, you can always choose one color and just get the fruit for that. Do what works best for you!
Ingredients:
- Greek yogurt (vanilla or plain)
- bananas
- raspberries
- strawberries
- peaches
- orange
- mango
- frozen pineapple
- mixed berries
- canned beets
3. DIY Globe – Instructions
My girls have been getting really into globes and looking at maps. They are fascinated by them! So I thought this month we’d try to make a paper maché globe. This one by Paging Supermom looks awesome. This will be such a great way to incorporate geography into our homeschool day. It will be our first paper maché experience! I’m sure it’ll be messy, but also fun. If you’re diving into this craft with us, let us know how it goes in the comments below!

- Punching Balloon
- Recycled Paper, 1-inch strips
- Water
- Flour
- Blue Acrylic Craft Paint
- Mod Podge
- Canning Ring
4. Tissue Paper Flowers – Instructions
I haven’t met a child who didn’t like to pick flowers for their mama. If you come across a rainy day, or just need a break from the heat – these DIY flowers will be the perfect craft to do! All you need are pipe cleaners and tissue paper and you’re good to go.
